In LDoH, zombies are quite a bit more deadly than their vanilla counterparts.

Zombies, in addition to locating players normally and being attracted by other zombies being damaged, they now have a few more ways of tracking players down.

They are attracted by loud noises and by the scent of blood given off from a player being damaged.

Before day 11, zombies are unnable to build, unless they spawned within certain structures, with only 1/20 zombies being able to break blocks. Zombies spawned as part of generated hordes in wasteland city biomes have a 1/10 chance to be able to break blocks, a 1/10 chance to be able to build and a 1/10 chance to be able to do both.

Zombies are significantly less agressive during the day and have their speed halved.

Zombies who spawn in the badlands move 50% faster than other zombies.

Their speed also gradually increases as the days go on.

When a zombie deals damage to a mercenary or villager, they give them the infected potion effect.

Drops[]

Zombies drop 0-2 rotten flesh, and 0-2 clothing fabric as well as having a 10% chance to drop fermented spider eyes and a 2.5% chance to drop a potato, carrot, or iron ingot.

Spawning[]

Zombies naturally spawn above ground, as well as part of structures, generated hordes, horde events and zombie ambushes.
