Horde Events occur every 10 days, except on day 100 and days after 200.

Hordes start at midnight and spawn 6 waves over the course of the night, each 75 blocks away in a random direction from the player. If a horde would spawn in a lit area, they instead spawn 1 block closer, and start again from a new direction if they would spawn too close to a player. It tries this 20 times, before ignoring light levels.

If a horde would spawn 30 blocks below the player, instead all entities are replaced by vespas that destroy blocks at the cost of health.
